Therapeutic Touch (TT) is a gentle, holistic, non‑invasive healing practice that supports physical, emotional, and mental well‑being. Through a grounded, compassionate presence, TT helps to rebalance the body’s natural energy field, bringing the whole system into greater harmony.
A session lasts approximately 45 minutes and is deeply relaxing. While TT can be used to support a wide range of conditions and challenges, you do not need to be experiencing an ailment to benefit. Many people receive TT simply as a restorative tonic — a way to settle, soften, and reconnect with themselves.
Originally founded by Dr. Dolores Krieger, Professor of Nursing in the USA, Therapeutic Touch was introduced to the UK by Jeannie Sayre‑Adams and Stephen Wright. It is now practiced worldwide and continues to evolve as a relational, presence‑based healing modality.
How Therapeutic Touch Fits Karen’s Approach
Therapeutic Touch sits at the heart of Karen’s wider integrative practice. It reflects the principles that shape all her work — with people, horses, and the relational space between them.
Using TT invites the practitioner into a state of quiet attunement, where the body can reveal what the mind protects and where healing becomes a shared, relational experience rather than a mechanical intervention.
Somatic Awareness and Nervous System Regulation
This approach supports individuals and horses in finding safety, softness, and coherence in their nervous systems. TT helps regulate the autonomic system, ease tension, and create the conditions for deeper emotional release and integration. Whether offered to a person or a horse, TT strengthens trust, deepens communication, and supports the emergence of a calmer, more regulated relational field.
Compassionate, Trauma‑Informed Practice
Therapeutic Touch is grounded in sensitivity, safety, and deep listening and aligns with this trauma‑informed approach by offering a gentle, non‑intrusive pathway for healing. It allows clients — human or equine — to move at their own pace, guided by your steady presence and intuitive understanding of somatic cues.
TT naturally complements the other modalities that Karen both teaches and practice:
- Breathwork
- Meditation
- Free Flow Yoga
- Somatic release
- Equine behaviour and trauma‑informed horsemanship
Together, these form a cohesive, integrated system of healing that reflects your brand’s essence: grounded, relational, intuitive, and deeply connected to the wisdom of the body.
Learning Therapeutic Touch
Karen offers teaching for individuals or small groups of up to four people who wish to learn Therapeutic Touch for themselves — and, by request, for their horses. This training supports a deeper understanding of energy awareness, grounded presence, and the relational nature of healing, whether working with humans or animals.
