BACKGROUND

About Karen
Karen grew up with horses and has always had a passion for animals. She left school and trained to become a BHS Instructor prior to becoming a Nurse. Her enthusiasm for horses inspired her to train and attain her BHS II & BHSI Stable Managers qualifications whilst still working as a Nurse. Karen knew from a very early age that there was far more to working with horses and people than just focusing on improving the physical body. She learnt that a holistic approach to therapy and care using a mind, body and spiritual approach gained the best success and outcomes for health and well-being for the client be they human or horse.

Karen also has a background of over 30 years of experience working as a Lead Clinical Nurse specialising in Critical Care, Stress Management and Complementary Therapy.  Since working independently over the past six years she has worked in both the private and public Health care sectors gaining a National Social Healthcare Award in innovation in Practice. She has used her unique holistic approach to work with clients and their families post Stroke and Palliative care that she currently still does. After a further 6 years of study in psychotherapy she developed her work as an NLP Psychotherapist, Trainer and Life Coach to provide Stress Management for both clients and NHS Staff.

Karen has her own horses, which she has competed at National Affiliated standard in the disciplines of both Eventing and Dressage.  In conjunction with her part time practice with the NHS Karen has also become well established in her work within the Equine industry. She practices as an, Equine Muscle Release Therapist, Natural Horse Handler /Behaviourist, Emotional Freedom Technique Practitioner and NLP Psychotherapist /NLP Trainer. This wealth of expertise allows her to apply a unique approach to the healing and handling work that she does with many horses and people. She has used these approaches in her work with the World Horse Welfare Trust in Blackpool on a regular basis.

Karen now incorporates all her conventional and complementary knowledge and skills that facilitates a holistic approach to caring and supporting people and horses. This facilitates  her clients to achieve better physical, psychological and spiritual health and well being for themselves. She seeks to empower the people and horses that she works with to allow the restoration of a calm, relaxed balanced way of living and being that serves to promote an improvement in their current health.
